Finding your way around a rally as a spectator, marshal, or competitor can be at times challenging. Using features found within the On X Offroad app, we can help you cross that navigational barrier and get you out there to see more.

The rally will be sharing spectator, volunteer, and competitor maps via the folder share feature within the app for an enhanced rally experience. Learn about the app ahead of time at onxoffroad.com.

Why choose the Overmountain Rally?

stage preview videos

hellbender

(most of) the gravel section

This new stage will be used in 2024 with combined sections of App Tarmac and Countersink Long with an all new section of fast gravel linking the two. Recent roadwork has this stage in EXCELENT condition and ready to rip! You’ll find the exposed rocks and dips smoothed over and ready for full attack. Bring a whole binder just for the notes on Hellbender, this ~21 mile stage will test you.

Approximate Mileage: 21 total/ 5 tarmac/ 16 gravel

Hellbender

Tarmac Section

The original Appalachian Rallysport special stage, the Appalachian Tarmac (or App Tarmac) stage, will be part of the Hellbender stage in 2024. This 5 mile ribbon is tarmac rallying perfection, and was once the home of the App Tarmac Rally Sprint. Check out the video of Michael Hooper giving his IS350 a workout over the long course.

Approximate Mileage: 21 total/ 5 tarmac/ 16 gravel

McQueen Gap

This stage is characterized by massive elevation change. Cling to the side of mountain as your work your way up to the top of the ridge. Wave at the hikers on the Appalachian Trail before bombing back down the other side. At some points you can see FOUR levels of road from one location. This may be a “short” 4.5 mile stage, but it’s definitely tall!

Approximate Mileage: 4.5

Jacob’s Creek

Jacob’s creek starts out on a lesser used double track forest service road before meeting up with a wider and more flowy road at an uphill hairpin. The last few miles of the stage are steep and cambered down hill with no room for error. It’ll certainly test your car, and you ability to adapt to changing road conditions.

Approximate Mileage: 8.25

Countersink

Countersink is a classic of this rally and has ran every year since the inaugural event in 2021. For 2024, we continue that tradition and make this the final stage (and power stage) of the rally (with a little extra added for fun). The last 16 miles will leave you counting down the days to the 2025 Overmountain Rally Tennessee.

Approximate Mileage: 16
